A delicious plate of spaghetti bolognese.
Instructions
  1. 1

Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan. Cook the onions, carrots, celery and garlic over a medium heat for 10 mins, stirring occasionally, until soft.

  2. 2

Add the beef and pork mince and cook until browned all over.

  3. 3

Pour in the red wine and allow it to bubble away and reduce for a few mins. Stir in the chopped tomatoes and oregano.

  4. 4

Bring to a simmer, then lower the heat and cook for 1 hr, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is thick. Season to taste.

  5. 5

About 15 mins before the bolognese is ready, cook the spaghetti according to packet instructions.

  6. 6

Drain the spaghetti and either stir into the bolognese sauce, or serve the sauce on top. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.

This was amazing! Just like my nonna used to make. The red wine adds such a depth of flavor.

A true classic. I added a pinch of nutmeg and it was delicious. Will be making this again!
