Aunt Carol's Famous Chocolate Cake

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Add the buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla; beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.

Stir in the boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour evenly into the prepared pans.

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool in pans for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frost as desired. A simple chocolate buttercream works wonders.
